It works by blocking male hormones (androgens) that help cancer cells grow. The typical total daily dose is 240 mg taken as four 60 mg tablets at one time.

How to Take It

• Dose: Swallow four 60 mg tablets (240 mg total) whole once daily.
• Food: Take with or without food, around the same time every day.
• Handling: Do not split, chew, or crush the tablets.
• Combination: Usually paired with a hormone therapy that lowers testosterone, unless you had surgery to remove the testes

• How Apalumide works

Prostate cancer cells depend on androgens to grow and survive. Even in cases where the cancer becomes resistant to standard hormonal therapies (castration-resistant), androgen receptors in the cancer cells continue to be active and promote cancer growth. Apalutamide targets these androgen receptors, blocks their activation, and prevents them from binding to androgens. This action inhibits the signaling pathway that drives the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells.
